About Us
Historical Museum - Isperih takes care of the management of the Archaeological Reserve "Sboryanovo", as well as for the preservation of cultural and historical heritage in the region.

Isperih
The historical museum in Isperih is the successor of the "Han Omurtag" Regional Archaeological Society, founded in 1927. The members of this society collect a diverse collection of archaeological finds, which they exhibit in the city community center "Saznani". Ethnographic exhibits from the region of Isperih were later added to the exposition. In 1975, a permanent museum exhibition was opened in the new building of the community center, which in 1978 became a branch of the District History Museum in Razgrad. After the opening of the Priest's Tomb in 1982, scientific research in the Isperih region increased, and in 1984 the branch in Isperih received the status of an independent museum.
Today, the Historical Museum - Isperih has departments of archaeology, ethnography, new and recent history, art and administrative-economics and restoration laboratory, in which 30 museum specialists, tour guides, restorer, technical specialists and security work. Over 37,000 museum items are stored in its fund. It has equipped storage facilities and a laboratory, a conference hall and halls for permanent and temporary exhibitions, an ethnographic house, a reception center and archaeological bases in the IAR "Sboryanovo" and a windmill in the village of Belintsi.
The museum takes care of the protection, maintenance, presentation and promotion of the immovable cultural heritage in the "Sboryanovo" IAR and takes part in its research. The museum also includes objects from the Sboryanovo Historical-Archaeological Reserve.
Municipality of Isperih
The municipality of Isperih covers an area of 402 square km. and occupies the southern slopes of the Ludogorsk plateau. Administratively, the territory is part of the Razgrad region. The structure of the municipality includes one city - Isperih and 23 villages. The villages are located at a relatively short distance from the city.
At the end of 2021, the population of Isperih Municipality is 19,828 inhabitants. 7,697 people live in the city, and 12,131 in the villages. The population is mixed with representatives of the Bulgarian Turkish and Roma ethnic groups.
The agricultural territory occupies 72.5% of the territory of the municipality of Isperih, which is significantly higher than the average for Bulgaria (57.4%). Agriculture is the main source of employment and/or additional income for the population. Some of the largest agricultural companies in the country operate on the territory of Isperih municipality - "Agrotime" Ltd., "Severagro" Ltd., "Agrotida" Ltd., etc. One of the most modernly equipped and high-tech pig farms operates on the territory of Isperih municipality in the country.
The largest industrial enterprise is "Khan Asparuh" AD, Isperih, which is a structure-determining enterprise for the local economy and is one of the largest in the branch in Bulgaria. About 50% of its production is exported to EU and Eastern European countries.
"Dobrudzha - Kit" JSC is a machine-building enterprise, the largest producer of running wheels in Bulgaria, manual carts and tool equipment. The company is a leader in the field of metal machining with over 50 years of tradition in this industry. About 80% of its production is exported to EU countries.
"Aivaz N" Ltd. is an industrial enterprise for the production and trade of metal products. It has its own production, warehouse and administrative building and is equipped with the latest generation of automatic lines and semi-automatic welding machines for the production of flexible stainless steel pipes from chrome-nickel steel. About 90% of its production is exported to EU countries.
The municipality of Isperih has a significant potential for the development of tourism, which is based on the interesting historical heritage and the peculiarities of the local traditions and way of life. The most significant tourist attraction is the AR "Sboryanovo", which is located between the villages of Malak Porovets and Sveshtari. On its territory is the Priest's Tomb, dating from the beginning of the third century BC. declared a world cultural monument included in the UNESCO list.
